In September of 2008 Rose of Durham was the recipient of Best Start Sub Hub funding in the amount of $5,680.00 allowing us to begin offering the parenting program Just for Dads.

Maple Leaf Billiards

Rose of Durham would like to thank Mr. Bill Caukwell, owner of the 'new' Maple Leaf Billiards, for his donation of $738.00 from his Grand Opening tournaments on Saturday, February 16th. Bill has been in the business world for many years. Not only is Bill a great sales person who treats his customers the way he wants to be treated, he is also a positive role model for giving back to his community. This is the second donation Bill has made to Rose of Durham, from his business in as many years. April 12th will be Maple Leaf Billiard’s second annual Rose of Durham tournament to help the teenage mothers and their children in our community. PwC Canada Foundation Grant

Rose of Durham is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of a 2007/2008 Price Waterhouse Cooper Leadership Grant. This grant will cover the fees for our Executive Director to complete a certificate program in Human Services Management offered by T.A.P.E., (a continuing education division of the University of Toronto). Rose of Durham thanks PwC for their support!

 

14th Annual Victorian Tea

Rose of Durham's annual signature fundraiser was held on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at the Lviv Hall in Oshawa. Once again in was a great success, bringing in over $20,000.00. The Rose of Durham Board of Directors would like to thank the 2007 Victorian Tea Organizing Committee and all our Vic Tea volunteers for their dedication and determination in making this event such a success.

2007 "Friend of Health" Award

On October 3, 2007, Rose of Durham was a recipient of one of 6 "Friend of Health" awards given out by the Durham Region Health Department at their Appreciation Day. This award acknowledges Rose of Durham's support and collaboration in the delivery and promotion of Public Health Programs and Services for 2007. Rose of Durham thanks the Durham Region Health Department for this honour!

Victorian Tea - Tuesday, November 20, 2007

Our Annual Signature Fundraiser is gearing up. Baskets are being filled. Be sure to mark Tuesday, November 20th on your calendar. Tickets will go on sale at 5:00 PM Tuesday, October 9th at our main Oshawa office, 200 Bond St. W. Tickets are sold out! Come out for an evening of good company, fun and all for an excellent cause. Doors will open at 6:00 PM – don’t miss this annual event!

Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon

Mark September 30th on your calendar and come out to join the Rose of Durham ‘Red Petals’ for our third annual walk/run in the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon Charity Challenge. Join our team and help us raise dollars for our Rose of Durham programs. Collecting pledges from your friends, neighbours and relatives has never been easier! It can all been done on-line. If your taste is for something short and sweet there is a 5 K walk or run and for those who enjoy a longer trot there is a ½ or full marathon. 2006 Victorian Tea

The Rose of Durham staff and Board of Directors would like to extend our thanks to all who those individuals and businesses that donated to our annual signature fundraiser, The Victorian Tea.  The Tea was held on November 21, 2006 and raised an outstanding $20,008.00 for the agency.

 

The Board and the staff also wishes to thank the Vic Tea Committee.  Without their dedication, excellent planning and sheer hard work the Annual Victorian Tea would not be possible.

 

First Annual Tournament of Roses

On Saturday December 9/06 Tees and Cues Indoor Golf and Billiards held the Tournament of Roses.  This pairs billiard tournament raised $1,150.00 for Rose of Durham.  Our thanks go out to the owners and staff at Tees and Cues and all those who took part in the tournament.

 

Ajax Pickering Outreach Office Has Moved

Our Ajax Pickering Outreach office has moved.  We are now located in the United Way Ajax Pickering Uxbridge office at 230 Westney Road South in Ajax, suite 303.  You can contact our counsellor for that program by calling 289-385-1160 or email her (Anna Aitchison).
