Q. Who can come to Rose of Durham?

A. To take part in counselling and other programs at Rose of Durham you must be 24 years of age or younger. You will meet with a counsellor who will tell you about services offered at Rose of Durham. The counsellor will also tell you how to get in touch with other services offered in the community that you might need.

 

Q. When do young women become involved with Rose of Durham?

A. Anytime during their pregnancy, or as young parents.

 

Q. How much do the services at Rose of Durham cost?

A. There is no cost for services offered by Rose of Durham.

 

Q. What are the hours at Rose of Durham?

A. Rose of Durham is open 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday. We close over lunch from 12:00 - 1:00 PM.

 

Q. Is there a waiting list for service?

A. No, you can usually see a counsellor within a week of calling the agency.

 

Q. Does Rose of Durham offer services for young fathers?

A. Fathers may attend some parenting groups offered at Rose of Durham, prenatal classes as a 'coach', and the drop-in program. A counsellor can assist a young father to find programs and services in the community that will meet his needs.

 

Q. Should I bring anyone else with me to Rose of Durham?

A. If you would like to bring a friend, parent or other relative with you for your first counselling appointment, you may. The counsellor will meet with you, separately, first and then your friend/relative may join you. For prenatal classes, you may bring a partner/coach.

 

Q. I just want to attend drop-in programs. Is that okay?

A. Rose of Durham has much to offer (prenatal, school, individual support, parenting groups, workshops) We support the client's decision to attend (or not attend) what they choose. At intake, you can discuss your needs with your counsellor.
